Hi, I’m Oriana, full-time editorial freelancer living in lovely Brooklyn. I have over a decade of editorial experience, from all points on the publishing continuum. I do all kinds of editorial work, from proofreading and copyediting to book doctoring and editorial development and consulting.

I’ve been lucky enough to work on many different types of writing, including novels, short story collections, and memoirs; illustrated books on beauty and fashion, pets, new age and the occult, and sports; children’s books, quote books, crossword puzzle collections, and more.

This is the greatest job I’ve ever had.

I admit that I actually care about serial commas, appositives, and gerunds. I really want to root out all dangling modifiers, unnecessary passive voice, and wrongly-italicized punctuation. And I adore the craft of writing as well as the mechanics. I love to burnish sentences until they shimmer. I plan to learn every single word in the world, so I will be able slide the perfect one in, right where it belongs, every time.

And the very best part (for a bibliophile) is that I get paid to read.

I prefer to work with smaller presses and authors whose work I adore, and I understand that those people and publishers are often struggling. As such, my rates are flexible. Yes, this is my job, it’s what keeps me in hoodies and my dog Prufrock in kibble. But I would always rather work on a book that dazzles, put out by a fascinating press, regardless of budget.

So check out my résumé, browse my client list, send me an email. I would love to do a project with you!
